Two Little Monkeys
Whewh! We've had a busy past couple of weeks with birthday parties, aunts and uncles going off to college, going to The Little Gym, and visiting a preschool. Last weekend they had a good time visiting all of their little friends at Jake's birthday party. Hard to imagine he's 2 already! I had to take them upstairs to play though after a while because they wanted to help Jake open his presents more than he did, and then when he opened a sports package with a bat, baseball, soccerball, and football in it, Addie wanted it out immediately. That's my little tomgirl for you, so after his uncle opened it for him. You know who got a hold of it and immediately started using the bat as a golf club! Ahh, her father was so proud. :) We haven't practiced batting at home yet, but we do have a set of golf and hockey sticks that they like to wack wiffle balls around with, of course Addie enjoys this more than Riley. But monkey see, monkey do! Whatever one is doing these days the other is sure to follow. Later that evening we went to the Mills playground which they thoroughly enjoyed and I'm glad the bigger kids were kind enough to slow down just a bit so they didn't run over the "babies", but the girls didn't mind, they just ran along with them trying to keep up. They also rode the train with Will and Morgan and of course I didn't have my camera. Terrible mother I know. So that was fun! Then last Thursday we went to the Little Gym for a trial class and at first they were a little shy, but then they got the hang of it... literally. My mom had Riley hanging from the high bar and the little monkey just brings her feet up to the bar and so my mom flipped her around and then of course she had to repeat a zillion more times. Addie just like trying everything and dancing to the different music. So for those of you who don't know the story, Addie is named after my friend who is 28 years old long before Grey's Anatomy and Addison Montgomery. So so much for being original and unique, cause guess how many Addie's were in class that day...3! Geez Louise! Oh well so they had a great time and have since brought their newly aquired gymnastic skills to the house. :) When I returned home from a shower on Sunday, Brad was watching or lets say at home with the girls as Riley was strattling her exersaucer which she uses as a springboard to climb over the back of the couch. But this time she was not only strattling the opening of the exersaucer, but her sister sitting in it as well!! I said, uh hello do you see what she's doing? And his answer so nonchalantly is yeah they've been doing it all day. Too funny! So needless to say they are quite the movers and shakers these days and when they fall they just get right back up. And lastly we went to visit a potential pre-school that takes kids at 2. Just because we are so blessed that they are watched by our wonderful mothers, I thought it would be fun to possibly get some interaction with other little kids next schoolyear after they turn 2. And they seemed to like it as the 2 year old class was having recess inside due to the rain and the girls had no problem keeping up and playing along. Now granted my mother and I were standing right there and it might be another story when they're a year older and get left for the whole morning, but we'll see, I think they'll enjoy it. Okay so that wasn't lastly because I have one more little tidbit for all of you future mothers. Our parents as teachers group had a camping activity set up at the early childhood center which we all enjoyed, but Riley especially liked putting the bugs in a jar, which consisted of tongue depressors painted in different colors and put them in a cleaned out plastic juice jug. Hello how many toys do we have and all I needed was a milkjug and some clothespins (that's what we use at home). Anyhow, so word to the wise you don't need many toys from the store, pots, pans, spoons, clothespins, and milkjugs work just fine. :) Well I may not post often, but at least I get it all in when I do post. Until the next adventure, hugs!
