Picture Time

Just a quick note we had family pictures taken a couple of weeks ago. Note to all of you mommies out there, don't take 17 month olds out for pictures. If they're anything like mine, they won't be the most cooperative. But there are a couple of goodies so check them out. Kathy is wonderful, just wait till the kids are a few years older. :) It's www.kathymccloy.com enter her site click on proofs and the password is case sensitive, girls. Hope you enjoy!

Pictures, pictures, pictures....

So everyone's been asking what the girls are up to lately, so I thought I would take a few pics of what they've been up to literally. :) Since going to the Little Gym they now think they should climb over everything including the couch, playhouse, horse, fireplace, etc. You name it if they can climb on top of it they're there. :) They also enjoy lounging on their princess couch and since grammy put their wagon together (pics to come later) they feel the need to work on their workbenches with their hammers as well. And lastly we've just been working with them that the potty chairs are fun and to sit and go potty on and not put things in or step in. Addie's recently been fascinated with the handle, gross! But then she gets to wash her hands which is another all time favorite, playing in the water! Hope all is well and enjoy the pics. Nevermind Riley's white beard below, daddy got powdered doughnuts this morning for breakfast, what a treat!!

Two Little Monkeys

Whewh! We've had a busy past couple of weeks with birthday parties, aunts and uncles going off to college, going to The Little Gym, and visiting a preschool. Last weekend they had a good time visiting all of their little friends at Jake's birthday party. Hard to imagine he's 2 already! I had to take them upstairs to play though after a while because they wanted to help Jake open his presents more than he did, and then when he opened a sports package with a bat, baseball, soccerball, and football in it, Addie wanted it out immediately. That's my little tomgirl for you, so after his uncle opened it for him. You know who got a hold of it and immediately started using the bat as a golf club! Ahh, her father was so proud. :) We haven't practiced batting at home yet, but we do have a set of golf and hockey sticks that they like to wack wiffle balls around with, of course Addie enjoys this more than Riley. But monkey see, monkey do! Whatever one is doing these days the other is sure to follow. Later that evening we went to the Mills playground which they thoroughly enjoyed and I'm glad the bigger kids were kind enough to slow down just a bit so they didn't run over the "babies", but the girls didn't mind, they just ran along with them trying to keep up. They also rode the train with Will and Morgan and of course I didn't have my camera. Terrible mother I know. So that was fun! Then last Thursday we went to the Little Gym for a trial class and at first they were a little shy, but then they got the hang of it... literally. My mom had Riley hanging from the high bar and the little monkey just brings her feet up to the bar and so my mom flipped her around and then of course she had to repeat a zillion more times. Addie just like trying everything and dancing to the different music. So for those of you who don't know the story, Addie is named after my friend who is 28 years old long before Grey's Anatomy and Addison Montgomery. So so much for being original and unique, cause guess how many Addie's were in class that day...3! Geez Louise! Oh well so they had a great time and have since brought their newly aquired gymnastic skills to the house. :) When I returned home from a shower on Sunday, Brad was watching or lets say at home with the girls as Riley was strattling her exersaucer which she uses as a springboard to climb over the back of the couch. But this time she was not only strattling the opening of the exersaucer, but her sister sitting in it as well!! I said, uh hello do you see what she's doing? And his answer so nonchalantly is yeah they've been doing it all day. Too funny! So needless to say they are quite the movers and shakers these days and when they fall they just get right back up. And lastly we went to visit a potential pre-school that takes kids at 2. Just because we are so blessed that they are watched by our wonderful mothers, I thought it would be fun to possibly get some interaction with other little kids next schoolyear after they turn 2. And they seemed to like it as the 2 year old class was having recess inside due to the rain and the girls had no problem keeping up and playing along. Now granted my mother and I were standing right there and it might be another story when they're a year older and get left for the whole morning, but we'll see, I think they'll enjoy it. Okay so that wasn't lastly because I have one more little tidbit for all of you future mothers. Our parents as teachers group had a camping activity set up at the early childhood center which we all enjoyed, but Riley especially liked putting the bugs in a jar, which consisted of tongue depressors painted in different colors and put them in a cleaned out plastic juice jug. Hello how many toys do we have and all I needed was a milkjug and some clothespins (that's what we use at home). Anyhow, so word to the wise you don't need many toys from the store, pots, pans, spoons, clothespins, and milkjugs work just fine. :) Well I may not post often, but at least I get it all in when I do post. Until the next adventure, hugs!

Ring Around The Rosey

So I've decided that I'm still not very good at this blogging thing. I read other people's blogs and I just smile and laugh about their everyday lives. So that's where we'll start. Where are we these days. Brad just got back from Cape and his favorite golf outing of the year at Bent Creek. Well last year they won the whole thing!! This year not so much, but he still had a good time, so he's happy. And I get to leave this week for Seattle to go play soccer in the over 30 nationals. So regardless of the outcome, I've never been to Seattle and we don't play on Saturday, so we have all day Saturday to hang out and see the sites. Fun, fun! :) The girls had their 15 month old checkup last week, so thinking they're 15 months we can go to the pediatrician by ourselves right? Wrong!!!! Note to self when taking more than one baby to get shots, take another helper to hold one child while the other is screaming. :) Luckily, our wonderful doctor was very helpful and Miss Addie was very independent and brave. Because of course our princess Riley would not let me out of her little pinchers. Our stats for the day are as follows: Riley 19 lbs. 8 oz. 30 in. and head 47 cm (which is in the 75th percentile). Addie is 22 lbs. 4 oz. 29.75 in. and 46.8 cm. Which I take with a grain of salt, because they are big girls now and got to stand on the big kid scale for the first time so it's a little different than the baby scale. However, they still had to lay down to get their height measured and when they both want mom to hold them, we are moving pretty quick with our measurements. Luckily the head measurement is the most accurate and they didn't have to do it 3 times like last time, because they were amazed their heads were so big. They don't seem that big or disproportionate to me, what do you think? This really bugs Brad too, but again not too concerned. Other than that we checked out right on schedule and got our shots and out the door. The girls have been super funny lately. They've now started wresting which is pretty funny to watch. Riley definately prefers to tackle Addie and Addie gets a kick out of it too. She just laughs and laughs, however, when she pins Riley forget it. Riley does not appreciate it at all and if you've ever heard Riley scream you know she means business. :) So they are running and chasing each other and our new thing is ring around the rosey. Riley likes to even do it by herself, snapping her fingers and turning in circles. Too cute!! They seem to have started their own little language. Addie stood in front of my mother and myself apparently cracked herself up, then repeated the phrase again and cracked herself up. She's our little dancer! My mom finally got her dancer! (My mom used to teach tap back in the day for those who didn't know). Actually they both like to dance, and Riley's usually snapping, but loves to sing as well. Just like her parents!! I'll try to post some pictures soon. Still haven't figured out my new camera's downloading process. Uggh! Okay until next time.
Hugs!

Our 1st Family picture and 1 year old pics

So I'm still not very good at this whole blogging thing. I can't figure out how to post multiple pics and write in an efficient manner. Anywho, Addie was not impressed with our male photographer and NOT going to smile for anyone or anything!! Needless to say it made for some interesting pictures, but Riley cheezed it up a bit! When I figure this crazy thing out I will try to post some more of them, but here are a few to get started. :) Enjoy!!

Happy Father's Day!

Well happy father's day to all those daddies, grandpas, cousins, and uncles out there! Unfortunately it's not as happy for our daddy, Brad. I had this big scheme planned out to surprise him that we were having baby #3 with his Wii, but unfortunately I had to tell him yesterday as I started spotting and miscarried today. But God has a plan and it's better than ours and apparently knows that we aren't quite ready for baby #3 yet. But we have two beautiful blessings that I thank God for every night and will be big sister's someday, but not yet. I'm okay, never been through this before, but I'll survive, as my sister Micki says, "life goes on" and so we shall thanking God for all that we do have. :) This is actually therapeutic in a way, so don't feel uneasy or wary of talking about it. Just asking for your prayers is all we need now. Hope you all have a blessed day!!

Forgot my blogname

So sorry, it has been so long, but I couldn't remember my blogname or how to log in. So I will try to update this more often from now on. Well we had the girls 1st birthday with only a minor Riley meltdown. Lesson learned, mother's feed your children before the party to lessen the tears. By the time we got to the cake they were both starving and ooey gooey icing (which they'd never had anything that sweet before) was not what they were looking for. But alls well that ends well and they got lots of good stuff that we are allowing them to get into little by little. They like to go out on the deck and play with their water table and they love to go downstairs and push their babydolls around in their strollers, although Riley tried to sit in the baby's stroller and have Addie push her around. Good thing she's light. :) They also love to play with their basketball hoop, although they'd rather be outside playing on dad's big hoop with a real ball. Ahh, he's so proud!! :) Riley's starting to walk all of the time now, no more crawling for her and Addie thinks she's William Wallace. I apologize for no pictures as I can't find my camera battery charger. But I'm getting a new camera tomorrow so I'll have lots of pictures soon. Back to Addie aka William Wallace, she had Brad's hat on backwards and was walking around the kitchen banging the stick from our sliding glass door. When she went in the living room she noticed the sound wasn't as loud and came back to the kitchen to bang some more. Too funny! We really need to get the video camera for that and her crazy chicken dance, done to the tune of the chicken dance, turkey crawl, and a cheering Christmas penguin. Don't ask....her grammy started her with all three, it gives me a headache hearing all 3 at once. So I'm playing softball 3 nights a week, not that anyone still cares about Brad and myself anymore and Brad plays golf 2 nights a week. He's going to Evansville to fish this weekend and I'm going to play flag football and take the girls with me so it should be a good time for all! TTFN!! (For those of you who don't know that's Tigger's ta ta for now)
